Wood Curtain Holdbacks

Our Peppard wood curtain holdbacks are designed to complement our wooden curtain pole sets and complete the look of your window dressing. Each holdback is turned from solid ash and hand finished in North Yorkshire using traditional woodworking techniques. The elegant curved profile and fine turning details allow the natural beauty of the wood grain to remain the focus.

Available individually in two stem lengths, the Peppard holdback is suitable for both lightweight and heavy curtains. It can also be used as the base for a fabric curtain tieback or decorative curtain cord where a softer, more traditional appearance is preferred.

Our wood curtain holdbacks are available in all of our standard finishes, allowing you to match your curtain poles and accessories perfectly. Delivery is normally within 5 to 10 working days.

Choosing the Correct Stem Length

The Peppard wood curtain holdback is available with either a 10 cm or 16 cm stem.

The 10 cm stem is generally suitable for lighter curtains, smaller windows or curtains with a modest stack back. This is typically the best choice for lightweight fabrics or curtains with a single lining.

The 16 cm stem is recommended where the curtain stack back is deeper, such as wider windows, heavier fabrics or curtains with multiple linings. The additional projection allows the curtains to sit naturally without appearing compressed against the wall.

A simple way to judge the correct size is to place a straight rule approximately 5 cm beyond the window reveal and gently gather the curtain back into its natural resting position. Measuring the depth of the curtain stack will give a good indication of the stem length required.

Fitting Wooden Curtain Holdbacks

Each holdback is supplied with a concealed timber fixing dowel together with wall plugs and screws. Insert one end of the dowel into the pre-drilled hole in the holdback, fit the wall plug into the drilled fixing hole and then screw the dowel securely into the wall.

The height and position of the holdback are largely a matter of personal preference. Positioning the holdback lower creates a softer, more relaxed appearance, while a higher position gives a more formal, tailored look.

Available Finishes

Peppard wood curtain holdbacks are available in all of our standard stained and painted finishes, together with an unfinished option for customers wishing to apply their own finish.

We also offer a bespoke painted finish to match your chosen colour. Bespoke painted holdbacks should be ordered together with a bespoke painted curtain pole set to ensure a consistent finish.

Compatibility

Peppard wood curtain holdbacks are suitable for use with both our 40 mm and 50 mm wooden curtain pole collections. The choice of holdback is independent of the curtain pole diameter, with stem length determined solely by the size and weight of your curtains.
